Price per area: Comparing Property Prices on the Same Area Basis
Price per area unit can make differently sized properties easier to compare. Convert all measurements to the same unit before interpreting the figures.
Use the Price per area Calculator to enter your own figures and compare the result with the worked example below.
Price per area formula
Price per area unit = Property price ÷ Floor area
Worked example
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Property price | 300000 USD |
| Floor area (consistent units) | 1500 area |
| Price per area | 200 USD |
These are illustrative inputs, not current prices, rates or recommended targets. Where a currency is shown, keep all comparable money amounts in the same currency; conversion examples identify the two sides separately.
How to interpret the result
Usable area, gross area and plot area are different measures. Location, condition and layout can outweigh a simple per-area comparison.
