Shared bill split: Splitting a Bill Equally Without Hidden Extras
An equal split divides the complete bill by the number of people sharing it. Agree whether tips, service charges or delivery fees are included before calculating each share.
Use the Shared bill split Calculator to enter your own figures and compare the result with the worked example below.
Shared bill split formula
Equal share = Total bill ÷ Number of people
Worked example
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Total bill | 120 USD |
| Number of people | 4 people |
| Shared bill split | 30 USD |
These are illustrative inputs, not current prices, rates or recommended targets. Where a currency is shown, keep all comparable money amounts in the same currency; conversion examples identify the two sides separately.
How to interpret the result
Equal sharing is different from paying for individual orders. If contributions are unequal, use agreed percentages instead.
