Future property value: Testing Property Appreciation Assumptions
A future-value projection compounds a chosen appreciation rate over time. It helps compare scenarios for the same property rather than predicting a selling price.
Use the Future property value Calculator to enter your own figures and compare the result with the worked example below.
Future property value formula
Future value = Current value × (1 + appreciation rate)^n
Worked example
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Current property value | 300000 USD |
| Annual appreciation | 3 % |
| Years | 10 years |
| Future property value | 403,174.913803 USD |
These are illustrative inputs, not current prices, rates or recommended targets. Where a currency is shown, keep all comparable money amounts in the same currency; conversion examples identify the two sides separately.
How to interpret the result
Try a flat or declining-value scenario as well. Selling costs and property condition are not automatically reflected in the growth assumption.

The example follows the FinMathly calculator method. For broader background, see CFPB: Building a budget. The background resource may use jurisdiction-specific terms; it does not replace the assumptions of this calculator.
