After-tax income: Estimating Income Left After Taxes and Deductions
After-tax income subtracts entered taxes and mandatory deductions from gross income. It creates a cash-planning figure once those deductions have been independently estimated.
Use the After-tax income Calculator to enter your own figures and compare the result with the worked example below.
After-tax income formula
After-tax income = Gross income − Taxes − Mandatory deductions
Worked example
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Gross income | 60000 USD |
| Taxes | 10000 USD |
| Mandatory deductions | 3000 USD |
| After-tax income | 47,000 USD |
These are illustrative inputs, not current prices, rates or recommended targets. Where a currency is shown, keep all comparable money amounts in the same currency; conversion examples identify the two sides separately.
How to interpret the result
The tool does not calculate the deductions from local law. Other voluntary payroll deductions may still reduce the amount paid into a bank account.
