Net profit: Checking Profit After All Entered Expenses
Net profit is the difference between revenue and total expenses. The calculation is only as complete as the expense list, including costs that are easy to overlook.
Use the Net profit Calculator to enter your own figures and compare the result with the worked example below.
Net profit formula
Net profit = Total revenue − Total expenses
Worked example
| Item | Example value |
|---|---|
| Total revenue | 10000 USD |
| Total expenses | 8000 USD |
| Net profit | 2,000 USD |
These are illustrative inputs, not current prices, rates or recommended targets. Where a currency is shown, keep all comparable money amounts in the same currency; conversion examples identify the two sides separately.
How to interpret the result
Profit and cash flow are different. Credit sales, unpaid bills and noncash charges can make the bank balance move differently from profit.
